Most of the machine\nbecomes unusable, making this a very simple and effective DoS\nvulnerability.\n\nI cannot imagine why this retry was ever implemented, but it seems\nrather useless and harmful to me. Let's remove it and fail with\nENAMETOOLONG instead.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:L/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H","score":5.5},"cwes":["CWE-835"],"references":["https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/0f2b2d9e881c90402dbe28f9ba831775b7992e1f","https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/550f7ca98ee028a606aa75705a7e77b1bd11720f","https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/99a37ab76a315c8307eb5b0dc095d8ad9d8efeaa","https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/c47ed91156daf328601d02b58d52d9804da54108","https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/d42ad3f161a5a487f81915c406f46943c7187a0a"],"products":["linux:linux_kernel"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T21:58:20.756570362+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2024-53685","score":0.00231,"percentile":0.13992,"date":"2026-10-31"},"kev":null,"osv":[],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
