With mem_ctrl_idx defined as\n32-bits wide the left-shift operation truncates the upper 16 bits of\ninformation during the calculation of the SMC argument.\n\nThe mem_ctrl_idx stack variable must be defined as 64-bits wide to prevent any\npotential integer overflow, i.e. loss of data from upper 16 bits.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:L/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H","score":5.5},"cwes":["CWE-190"],"references":["https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/000930193fe5eb79ce5563ee2e9ddb0c6e4e1bb5","https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/1fe774a93b46bb029b8f6fa9d1f25affa53f06c6","https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/4ad7033de109d0fec99086f352f58a3412e378b8","https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/578ca89b04680145d41011e7cec8806fefbb59e7","https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/8cc31cfa36ff37aff399b72faa2ded58110112ae"],"products":["linux:linux_kernel"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T21:57:56.913276502+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2024-53161","score":0.00229,"percentile":0.13807,"date":"2026-10-31"},"kev":null,"osv":[],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
