In versions prior to v1.49.0, the rate limiter could be bypassed by forging proxy headers allowing bad actors to send unlimited traffic to the site potentially causing a denial of service. In v1.49.0, a fix was implemented to only authorize proxies on local IPs which resolves this issue. As a workaround, one may add rules to one's proxy and/or firewall to not accept external proxy headers such as `X-Forwarded-*` from clients.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:L","score":5.3},"cwes":["CWE-770"],"references":["https://docs.pwpush.com/docs/proxies/#trusted-proxies","https://github.com/pglombardo/PasswordPusher/releases/tag/v1.49.0","https://github.com/pglombardo/PasswordPusher/security/advisories/GHSA-ffp2-8p2h-4m5j"],"products":[],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T21:57:34.731061660+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2024-52796","score":0.00544,"percentile":0.45701,"date":"2026-11-01"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-ffp2-8p2h-4m5j","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-ffp2-8p2h-4m5j","summary":"Password Pusher rate limiter can be bypassed by forging proxy headers","modified":"2024-11-26T19:08:23.465443Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"RubyGems","name":"pwpush","purl":"pkg:gem/pwpush","ranges":["<1.49.0"],"fixed":["1.49.0"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
