In affected versions if a Next.js application is performing authorization in middleware based on pathname, it was possible for this authorization to be bypassed for pages directly under the application's root directory. For example: * [Not affected] `https://example.com/` * [Affected] `https://example.com/foo` * [Not affected] `https://example.com/foo/bar`. This issue is patched in Next.js `14.2.15` and later. If your Next.js application is hosted on Vercel, this vulnerability has been automatically mitigated, regardless of Next.js version. There are no official workarounds for this vulnerability.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:N/A:N","score":7.5},"cwes":["CWE-863","CWE-285"],"references":["https://github.com/vercel/next.js/releases/tag/v14.2.15","https://github.com/vercel/next.js/security/advisories/GHSA-7gfc-8cq8-jh5f"],"products":["vercel:next.js"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T21:57:56.913276502+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2024-51479","score":0.03995,"percentile":0.90523,"date":"2026-11-01"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-7gfc-8cq8-jh5f","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-7gfc-8cq8-jh5f","summary":"Next.js authorization bypass vulnerability","modified":"2025-09-10T21:12:24Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"npm","name":"next","purl":"pkg:npm/next","ranges":[">=9.5.5 <14.2.15"],"fixed":["14.2.15"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
