{"cve":"CVE-2024-49760","nvd":{"published":"2024-10-24T22:15:04.703","modified":"2026-06-17T08:00:23.830","status":"Analyzed","description":"OpenRefine is a free, open source tool for working with messy data. The load-language command expects a `lang` parameter from which it constructs the path of the localization file to load, of the form `translations-$LANG.json`. But when doing so in versions prior to 3.8.3, it does not check that the resulting path is in the expected directory, which means that this command could be exploited to read other JSON files on the file system. Version 3.8.3 addresses this issue.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:L/I:N/A:N","score":5.3},"cwes":["CWE-22"],"references":["https://github.com/OpenRefine/OpenRefine/commit/24d084052dc55426fe460f2a17524fd18d28b20c","https://github.com/OpenRefine/OpenRefine/security/advisories/GHSA-qfwq-6jh6-8xx4"],"products":["openrefine:openrefine"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T21:56:33.105311382+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2024-49760","score":0.0059,"percentile":0.48199,"date":"2026-10-31"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-qfwq-6jh6-8xx4","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-qfwq-6jh6-8xx4","summary":"OpenRefine has a path traversal in LoadLanguageCommand","modified":"2024-11-06T16:02:38.055827Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"Maven","name":"org.openrefine:openrefine","purl":"pkg:maven/org.openrefine/openrefine","ranges":["<3.8.3"],"fixed":["3.8.3"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
