It can lead to cross-site scripting (XSS) in websites enables Astro's client-side routing and has *stored* attacker-controlled scriptless HTML elements (i.e., `iframe` tags with unsanitized `name` attributes) on the destination pages. This vulnerability can result in cross-site scripting (XSS) attacks on websites that built with Astro that enable the client-side routing with `ViewTransitions` and store the user-inserted scriptless HTML tags without properly sanitizing the `name` attributes on the page. Version 4.16.1 contains a patch for this issue.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:R/S:C/C:L/I:L/A:N","score":5.4},"cwes":["CWE-79"],"references":["https://github.com/withastro/astro/blob/7814a6cad15f06931f963580176d9b38aa7819f2/packages/astro/src/transitions/router.ts#L135-L156","https://github.com/withastro/astro/commit/a4ffbfaa5cb460c12bd486fd75e36147f51d3e5e","https://github.com/withastro/astro/security/advisories/GHSA-m85w-3h95-hcf9"],"products":["astro:astro"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T21:55:31.737901711+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2024-47885","score":0.00445,"percentile":0.38683,"date":"2026-10-31"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-m85w-3h95-hcf9","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-m85w-3h95-hcf9","summary":"DOM Clobbering Gadget found in astro's client-side router that leads to XSS","modified":"2025-11-27T08:16:37.087731Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"npm","name":"astro","purl":"pkg:npm/astro","ranges":[">=3.0.0 <4.16.1"],"fixed":["4.16.1"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
