{"cve":"CVE-2024-47878","nvd":{"published":"2024-10-24T21:15:12.293","modified":"2026-06-17T07:57:54.280","status":"Analyzed","description":"OpenRefine is a free, open source tool for working with messy data. Prior to version 3.8.3, the `/extension/gdata/authorized` endpoint includes the `state` GET parameter verbatim in a `<script>` tag in the output, so without escaping. An attacker could lead or redirect a user to a crafted URL containing JavaScript code, which would then cause that code to be executed in the victim's browser as if it was part of OpenRefine. Version 3.8.3 fixes this issue.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:R/S:C/C:L/I:L/A:N","score":6.1},"cwes":["CWE-79"],"references":["https://github.com/OpenRefine/OpenRefine/commit/10bf0874d67f1018a58b3732332d76b840192fea","https://github.com/OpenRefine/OpenRefine/security/advisories/GHSA-pw3x-c5vp-mfc3"],"products":["openrefine:openrefine"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T21:56:33.105311382+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2024-47878","score":0.00462,"percentile":0.40051,"date":"2026-11-01"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-pw3x-c5vp-mfc3","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-pw3x-c5vp-mfc3","summary":"OpenRefine has a reflected cross-site scripting vulnerability (XSS) in GData extension (authorized.vt)","modified":"2024-10-30T19:23:08.623533Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"Maven","name":"org.openrefine:extensions","purl":"pkg:maven/org.openrefine/extensions","ranges":["<3.8.3"],"fixed":["3.8.3"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
