A logged-in user with any role can delete arbitrary files on the filesystem by calling the `sync/clean_sync_dir` endpoint. The `dir_name` POST parameter is not validated/sanitized and is used to construct the `syncDir` that is deleted by calling `fs.rm`. This issue has been addressed in release version 1.0.0-beta16 and all users are advised to upgrade. There are no known workarounds for this vulnerability.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H","score":6.5},"cwes":["CWE-22"],"references":["https://github.com/saltcorn/saltcorn/blob/v1.0.0-beta.15/packages/server/routes/sync.js#L337-L346","https://github.com/saltcorn/saltcorn/commit/3c551261d0e230635774798009951fa83a07cc3a","https://github.com/saltcorn/saltcorn/security/advisories/GHSA-43f3-h63w-p6f6"],"products":[],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T21:55:31.737901711+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2024-47818","score":0.00783,"percentile":0.5603,"date":"2026-10-31"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-43f3-h63w-p6f6","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-43f3-h63w-p6f6","summary":"Saltcorn Server allows logged-in users to delete arbitrary files because of a path traversal vulnerability","modified":"2024-10-08T14:19:02Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"npm","name":"@saltcorn/server","purl":"pkg:npm/%40saltcorn/server","ranges":["<1.0.0-beta.16"],"fixed":["1.0.0-beta.16"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
