A user can gain access to protected (and potentially sensible) information indirectly via AttributeError.obj and the string module. The problem will be fixed in version 7.3. As a workaround, If the application does not require access to the module string, it can remove it from RestrictedPython.Utilities.utility_builtins or otherwise do not make it available in the restricted execution environment.","cvss_v4":{"vector":"CVSS:4.0/AV:N/AC:L/AT:N/PR:N/UI:N/VC:H/VI:N/VA:N/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N","score":8.7},"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:N/A:N","score":6.5},"cwes":["CWE-200"],"references":["https://github.com/zopefoundation/RestrictedPython/commit/d701cc36cccac36b21fa200f1f2d1945a9a215e6","https://github.com/zopefoundation/RestrictedPython/security/advisories/GHSA-5rfv-66g4-jr8h"],"products":["zope:restrictedpython"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T21:55:31.737901711+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2024-47532","score":0.00716,"percentile":0.53808,"date":"2026-10-31"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-5rfv-66g4-jr8h","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-5rfv-66g4-jr8h","summary":"RestrictedPython information leakage via `AttributeError.obj` and the `string` module","modified":"2025-01-21T18:21:23.819184Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"PyPI","name":"restrictedpython","purl":"pkg:pypi/restrictedpython","ranges":["<7.3"],"fixed":["7.3"]}]},{"id":"PYSEC-2024-186","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/PYSEC-2024-186","summary":"","modified":"2025-01-19T04:56:54.776821Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"PyPI","name":"restrictedpython","purl":"pkg:pypi/restrictedpython","ranges":["<7.3"],"fixed":["7.3"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
