Starting in version 40.0.0 and prior to version 43.1.1, a Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) vulnerability is present in the CKEditor 5 clipboard package. This vulnerability could be triggered by a specific user action, leading to unauthorized JavaScript code execution, if the attacker managed to insert a malicious content into the editor, which might happen with a very specific editor configuration. This vulnerability only affects installations where the Block Toolbar plugin is enabled and either the General HTML Support (with a configuration that permits unsafe markup) or the HTML Embed plugin is also enabled. A fix for the problem is available in version 43.1.1. As a workaround, one may disable the block toolbar plugin.","cvss_v4":{"vector":"CVSS:4.0/AV:N/AC:L/AT:N/PR:N/UI:A/VC:N/VI:N/VA:N/SC:L/SI:L/SA:N","score":5.1},"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:R/S:C/C:L/I:L/A:N","score":6.1},"cwes":["CWE-79"],"references":["https://github.com/ckeditor/ckeditor5/releases/tag/v43.1.1","https://github.com/ckeditor/ckeditor5/security/advisories/GHSA-rgg8-g5x8-wr9v"],"products":["ckeditor:ckeditor5"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T21:54:38.012257375+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2024-45613","score":0.00524,"percentile":0.44505,"date":"2026-10-31"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-rgg8-g5x8-wr9v","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-rgg8-g5x8-wr9v","summary":"Cross-site scripting (XSS) in the clipboard package","modified":"2024-10-15T17:29:14Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"npm","name":"ckeditor5","purl":"pkg:npm/ckeditor5","ranges":[">=40.0.0 <43.1.1"],"fixed":["43.1.1"]},{"ecosystem":"npm","name":"@ckeditor/ckeditor5-clipboard","purl":"pkg:npm/%40ckeditor/ckeditor5-clipboard","ranges":[">=40.0.0 <43.1.1"],"fixed":["43.1.1"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
