Versions of `tf2-item-format` since at least `4.2.6` and prior to `5.9.14` are vulnerable to a Regular Expression Denial of Service (ReDoS) attack when parsing crafted user input. This vulnerability can be exploited by an attacker to perform DoS attacks on any service that uses any `tf2-item-format` to parse user input. Version `5.9.14` contains a fix for the issue.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H","score":7.5},"cwes":["CWE-624","CWE-1333"],"references":["https://github.com/danocmx/node-tf2-item-format/commit/5cffcc16a9261d6a937bda72bfe6830e02e31eec","https://github.com/danocmx/node-tf2-item-format/releases/tag/v5.9.14","https://github.com/danocmx/node-tf2-item-format/security/advisories/GHSA-8h55-q5qq-p685","https://github.com/danocmx/node-tf2-item-format/commit/5cffcc16a9261d6a937bda72bfe6830e02e31eec","https://github.com/danocmx/node-tf2-item-format/releases/tag/v5.9.14"],"products":[],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T21:52:42.518321223+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2024-41655","score":0.00766,"percentile":0.55482,"date":"2026-11-01"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-8h55-q5qq-p685","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-8h55-q5qq-p685","summary":"(ReDoS) Regular Expression Denial of Service in tf2-item-format","modified":"2026-09-10T03:50:16.399155788Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"npm","name":"tf2-item-format","purl":"pkg:npm/tf2-item-format","ranges":[">=4.2.6 <5.9.14"],"fixed":["5.9.14"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
