{"cve":"CVE-2024-40892","nvd":{"published":"2024-08-12T19:15:16.403","modified":"2026-06-17T07:46:48.347","status":"Deferred","description":"A weak credential vulnerability exists in Firewalla Box Software versions before 1.979. This vulnerability allows a physically close attacker to use the license UUID for authentication and provision SSH credentials over the Bluetooth Low-Energy (BTLE) interface. Once an attacker gains access to the LAN, they could log into the SSH interface using the provisioned credentials. The license UUID can be acquired through plain-text Bluetooth sniffing, reading the QR code on the bottom of the device, or brute-forcing the UUID (though this is less likely).","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:A/AC:H/PR:N/UI:R/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H","score":7.1},"cwes":["CWE-1391"],"references":["https://vulncheck.com/advisories/firewalla-bt-weak-credentials","https://www.labs.greynoise.io/grimoire/2024-08-20-bluuid-firewalla/"],"products":[],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T21:53:51.317825789+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2024-40892","score":0.00948,"percentile":0.61192,"date":"2026-10-31"},"kev":null,"osv":[],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
