This issue was addressed by the Role-based Access Control https://docs.pinot.apache.org/operators/tutorials/authentication/basic-auth-access-control , so that /appConfigs` and all other APIs can be access controlled. Only authorized users have access to it. Note the user needs to add the admin role accordingly to the RBAC guide to control access to this endpoint, and in the future version of Pinot, a default admin role is planned to be added.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:N/A:N","score":7.5},"cwes":["CWE-200"],"references":["https://lists.apache.org/thread/hsm0b2w8qr0sqy4rj1mfnnw286tslpzc","http://www.openwall.com/lists/oss-security/2024/07/23/5","https://lists.apache.org/thread/hsm0b2w8qr0sqy4rj1mfnnw286tslpzc"],"products":["apache:pinot"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T21:52:42.518321223+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2024-39676","score":0.00846,"percentile":0.58063,"date":"2026-10-31"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-8gj9-r4hv-3jjw","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-8gj9-r4hv-3jjw","summary":"Apache Pinot: Unauthorized endpoint exposed sensitive information","modified":"2025-03-14T20:34:10.280480Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"Maven","name":"org.apache.pinot:pinot-controller","purl":"pkg:maven/org.apache.pinot/pinot-controller","ranges":[">=0.1 <1.0.0"],"fixed":["1.0.0"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
