{"cve":"CVE-2024-35231","nvd":{"published":"2024-05-27T17:15:09.760","modified":"2026-06-17T07:34:35.400","status":"Deferred","description":"rack-contrib provides contributed rack middleware and utilities for Rack, a Ruby web server interface. Versions of rack-contrib prior to 2.5.0 are vulnerable to denial of service due to the fact that the user controlled data `profiler_runs` was not constrained to any limitation. This would lead to allocating resources on the server side with no limitation and a potential denial of service by remotely user-controlled data. Version 2.5.0 contains a patch for the issue.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:C/C:N/I:N/A:H","score":8.6},"cwes":["CWE-770"],"references":["https://github.com/rack/rack-contrib/commit/0eec2a9836329051c6742549e65a94a4c24fe6f7","https://github.com/rack/rack-contrib/security/advisories/GHSA-8c8q-2xw3-j869","https://github.com/rack/rack-contrib/commit/0eec2a9836329051c6742549e65a94a4c24fe6f7","https://github.com/rack/rack-contrib/security/advisories/GHSA-8c8q-2xw3-j869"],"products":[],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T21:50:30.954589733+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2024-35231","score":0.00668,"percentile":0.51902,"date":"2026-11-01"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-8c8q-2xw3-j869","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-8c8q-2xw3-j869","summary":"rack-contrib vulnerable to Denial of Service due to the unconstrained value of the incoming \"profiler_runs\" parameter","modified":"2026-09-10T03:50:13.574187132Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"RubyGems","name":"rack-contrib","purl":"pkg:gem/rack-contrib","ranges":["<2.5.0"],"fixed":["2.5.0"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
