{"cve":"CVE-2024-31995","nvd":{"published":"2024-04-10T22:15:07.340","modified":"2026-06-17T07:29:05.300","status":"Deferred","description":"`@digitalbazaar/zcap` provides JavaScript reference implementation for Authorization Capabilities. Prior to version 9.0.1, when invoking a capability with a chain depth of 2, i.e., it is delegated directly from the root capability, the `expires` property is not properly checked against the current date or other `date` param. This can allow invocations outside of the original intended time period. A zcap still cannot be invoked without being able to use the associated private key material. `@digitalbazaar/zcap` v9.0.1 fixes expiration checking. As a workaround, one may revoke a zcap at any time.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:L/I:N/A:N","score":4.3},"cwes":["CWE-613"],"references":["https://github.com/digitalbazaar/zcap/commit/261eea040109b6e25159c88d8ed49d3c37f8fcfe","https://github.com/digitalbazaar/zcap/commit/55f8549c80124b85dfb0f3dcf83f2c63f42532e5","https://github.com/digitalbazaar/zcap/pull/82","https://github.com/digitalbazaar/zcap/security/advisories/GHSA-hp8h-7x69-4wmv","https://github.com/digitalbazaar/zcap/commit/261eea040109b6e25159c88d8ed49d3c37f8fcfe"],"products":[],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T21:48:32.179249784+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2024-31995","score":0.00441,"percentile":0.38319,"date":"2026-10-31"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-hp8h-7x69-4wmv","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-hp8h-7x69-4wmv","summary":"zcap has incomplete expiration checks in capability chains.","modified":"2026-09-10T03:50:11.358221686Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"npm","name":"@digitalbazaar/zcap","purl":"pkg:npm/%40digitalbazaar/zcap","ranges":["<9.0.1"],"fixed":["9.0.1"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
