{"cve":"CVE-2024-31228","nvd":{"published":"2024-10-07T20:15:05.277","modified":"2026-06-17T07:28:01.287","status":"Modified","description":"Redis is an open source, in-memory database that persists on disk. Authenticated users can trigger a denial-of-service by using specially crafted, long string match patterns on supported commands such as `KEYS`, `SCAN`, `PSUBSCRIBE`, `FUNCTION LIST`, `COMMAND LIST` and ACL definitions. Matching of extremely long patterns may result in unbounded recursion, leading to stack overflow and process crash. This problem has been fixed in Redis versions 6.2.16, 7.2.6, and 7.4.1. Users are advised to upgrade. There are no known workarounds for this vulnerability.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H","score":6.5},"cwes":["CWE-674"],"references":["https://github.com/redis/redis/commit/9317bf64659b33166a943ec03d5d9b954e86afb0","https://github.com/redis/redis/security/advisories/GHSA-66gq-c942-6976","https://lists.debian.org/debian-lts-announce/2024/11/msg00031.html"],"products":["redis:redis"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T21:55:31.737901711+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2024-31228","score":0.01011,"percentile":0.63174,"date":"2026-10-31"},"kev":null,"osv":[],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
