The vulnerability lies in the improper validation of client-side stored data within the web application. Specifically, the is_master_admin key, stored in the local storage of the browser, can be manipulated by an attacker. By changing this key from false to true, the application grants administrative privileges to the user, without proper server-side validation. This has been patched in 7.0.1815.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:L","score":8.3},"cwes":["CWE-639"],"references":["https://github.com/OneUptime/oneuptime/commit/14016d23d834038dd65d3a96cf71af04b556a32c","https://github.com/OneUptime/oneuptime/security/advisories/GHSA-246p-xmg8-wmcq","https://github.com/OneUptime/oneuptime/commit/14016d23d834038dd65d3a96cf71af04b556a32c","https://github.com/OneUptime/oneuptime/security/advisories/GHSA-246p-xmg8-wmcq"],"products":["hackerbay:oneuptime"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T21:47:51.568503435+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2024-29194","score":0.00702,"percentile":0.53285,"date":"2026-10-31"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-246p-xmg8-wmcq","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-246p-xmg8-wmcq","summary":"OneUptime Vulnerable to a Privilege Escalation via Local Storage Key Manipulation","modified":"2026-09-10T03:50:00.243433627Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"npm","name":"@oneuptime/model","purl":"pkg:npm/%40oneuptime/model","ranges":["<7.0.1815"],"fixed":["7.0.1815"]},{"ecosystem":"npm","name":"@oneuptime/common-server","purl":"pkg:npm/%40oneuptime/common-server","ranges":["<7.0.1815"],"fixed":["7.0.1815"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
