The `HttpPostRequestDecoder` can be tricked to accumulate data. While the decoder can store items on the disk if configured so, there are no limits to the number of fields the form can have, an attacher can send a chunked post consisting of many small fields that will be accumulated in the `bodyListHttpData` list. The decoder cumulates bytes in the `undecodedChunk` buffer until it can decode a field, this field can cumulate data without limits. This vulnerability is fixed in 4.1.108.Final.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:L","score":5.3},"cwes":["CWE-770"],"references":["https://gist.github.com/vietj/f558b8ea81ec6505f1e9a6ca283c9ae3","https://github.com/netty/netty/commit/0d0c6ed782d13d423586ad0c71737b2c7d02058c","https://github.com/netty/netty/security/advisories/GHSA-5jpm-x58v-624v","https://lists.debian.org/debian-lts-announce/2024/06/msg00015.html","https://gist.github.com/vietj/f558b8ea81ec6505f1e9a6ca283c9ae3"],"products":["debian:debian_linux","netty:netty"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T21:47:51.568503435+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2024-29025","score":0.0138,"percentile":0.72131,"date":"2026-10-31"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-5jpm-x58v-624v","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-5jpm-x58v-624v","summary":"Netty's HttpPostRequestDecoder can OOM","modified":"2026-09-10T03:50:10.174704931Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"Maven","name":"io.netty:netty-codec-http","purl":"pkg:maven/io.netty/netty-codec-http","ranges":["<4.1.108.Final"],"fixed":["4.1.108.Final"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
