{"cve":"CVE-2024-28237","nvd":{"published":"2024-03-18T22:15:07.980","modified":"2026-06-17T07:21:14.340","status":"Analyzed","description":"OctoPrint provides a web interface for controlling consumer 3D printers. OctoPrint versions up until and including 1.9.3 contain a vulnerability that allows malicious admins to configure or talk a victim with administrator rights into configuring a webcam snapshot URL which when tested through the \"Test\" button included in the web interface will execute JavaScript code in the victims browser when attempting to render the snapshot image. An attacker who successfully talked a victim with admin rights into performing a snapshot test with such a crafted URL could use this to retrieve or modify sensitive configuration settings, interrupt prints or otherwise interact with the OctoPrint instance in a malicious way. The vulnerability is patched in version 1.10.0rc3. OctoPrint administrators are strongly advised to thoroughly vet who has admin access to their installation and what settings they modify based on instructions by strangers.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:H/UI:R/S:C/C:L/I:L/A:N","score":4.8},"cwes":["CWE-79"],"references":["https://github.com/OctoPrint/OctoPrint/commit/779894c1bc6478332d14bc9ed1006df1354eb517","https://github.com/OctoPrint/OctoPrint/security/advisories/GHSA-x7mf-wrh9-r76c","https://github.com/OctoPrint/OctoPrint/commit/779894c1bc6478332d14bc9ed1006df1354eb517","https://github.com/OctoPrint/OctoPrint/security/advisories/GHSA-x7mf-wrh9-r76c"],"products":["octoprint:octoprint"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T21:46:54.846886191+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2024-28237","score":0.00439,"percentile":0.38134,"date":"2026-10-31"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-x7mf-wrh9-r76c","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-x7mf-wrh9-r76c","summary":"XSS via the \"Snapshot Test\" feature in Classic Webcam plugin settings","modified":"2026-06-10T17:14:18.725462814Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"PyPI","name":"octoprint","purl":"pkg:pypi/octoprint","ranges":["<1.10.0rc3"],"fixed":["1.10.0rc3"]}]},{"id":"PYSEC-2024-179","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/PYSEC-2024-179","summary":"","modified":"2026-06-10T17:14:16.017469834Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"PyPI","name":"octoprint","purl":"pkg:pypi/octoprint","ranges":["<1.10.0"],"fixed":["1.10.0"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
