Starting in version 1.36.2 and prior to version 1.40.3, use of inherently unsafe `*const c_void` and `ExternalPointer` leads to use-after-free access of the underlying structure, resulting in arbitrary code execution. Use of inherently unsafe `*const c_void` and `ExternalPointer` leads to use-after-free access of the underlying structure, which is exploitable by an attacker controlling the code executed inside a Deno runtime to obtain arbitrary code execution on the host machine regardless of permissions. This bug is known to be exploitable for both `*const c_void` and `ExternalPointer` implementations. Version 1.40.3 fixes this issue.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:L/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:C/C:H/I:H/A:H","score":8.8},"cwes":["CWE-416"],"references":["https://github.com/denoland/deno/security/advisories/GHSA-3j27-563v-28wf","https://github.com/denoland/deno/security/advisories/GHSA-3j27-563v-28wf"],"products":["deno:deno"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T21:47:51.568503435+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2024-27934","score":0.00392,"percentile":0.33375,"date":"2026-11-01"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-3j27-563v-28wf","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-3j27-563v-28wf","summary":"*const c_void / ExternalPointer unsoundness leading to use-after-free","modified":"2026-02-17T20:01:44.846019Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"crates.io","name":"deno","purl":"pkg:cargo/deno","ranges":[">=1.36.2 <1.40.3"],"fixed":["1.40.3"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
