{"cve":"CVE-2024-27928","nvd":{"published":"2026-06-17T23:17:02.790","modified":"2026-10-27T18:10:00.130","status":"Deferred","description":"vantage6 is an open-source infrastructure for privacy preserving analysis. Prior to version 5.0.0, if an attacker hacks into a vantage6 user's email account, they can 1) reset the password via email and then 2) reset the 2FA token via email. This way they reduce 2FA to 1FA (email access). Note that most email providers require 2FA to access email, so this issue is not very likely to cause issues. Version 5.0.0 fixes the issue. No known workarounds are available.","cvss_v4":{"vector":"CVSS:4.0/AV:N/AC:L/AT:P/PR:H/UI:N/VC:N/VI:H/VA:N/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N","score":5.9},"cvss_v3":null,"cwes":["CWE-308"],"references":["https://github.com/vantage6/vantage6/blob/main/docs/release_notes.rst#500","https://github.com/vantage6/vantage6/issues/1932","https://github.com/vantage6/vantage6/security/advisories/GHSA-4c5c-2vc3-x5w2"],"products":[],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-27T18:39:43.087796372+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2024-27928","score":0.00278,"percentile":0.20158,"date":"2026-10-27"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-4c5c-2vc3-x5w2","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-4c5c-2vc3-x5w2","summary":"Vantage6: 2FA can be circumvented with hacked email access","modified":"2026-07-13T16:43:52.111385634Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"PyPI","name":"vantage6","purl":"pkg:pypi/vantage6","ranges":["<5.0.0"],"fixed":["5.0.0"]}]},{"id":"PYSEC-2026-3398","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/PYSEC-2026-3398","summary":"Vantage6: 2FA can be circumvented with hacked email access","modified":"2026-07-13T16:33:32.018574594Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"PyPI","name":"vantage6","purl":"pkg:pypi/vantage6","ranges":["<5.0.0"],"fixed":["5.0.0"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
