The password reset mechanism of the Directus backend allows attackers to receive a password reset email of a victim user, specifically having it arrive at a similar email address as the victim with a one or more characters changed to use accents. This is due to the fact that by default MySQL/MariaDB are configured for accent-insensitive and case-insensitive comparisons. This vulnerability is fixed in version 10.8.3.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:L/A:N","score":8.2},"cwes":["CWE-706"],"references":["https://github.com/directus/directus/security/advisories/GHSA-qw9g-7549-7wg5","https://github.com/directus/directus/security/advisories/GHSA-qw9g-7549-7wg5"],"products":["monospace:directus"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T21:46:54.846886191+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2024-27295","score":0.00702,"percentile":0.53258,"date":"2026-10-31"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-qw9g-7549-7wg5","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-qw9g-7549-7wg5","summary":"Directus has MySQL accent insensitive email matching","modified":"2026-09-10T03:50:10.745805107Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"npm","name":"directus","purl":"pkg:npm/directus","ranges":["<10.8.3"],"fixed":["10.8.3"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
