If an excessively large value is specified as the starting index for an array in `_abi_decode`, it can cause the read position to overflow. This results in the decoding of values outside the intended array bounds, potentially leading to exploitations in contracts that use arrays within `_abi_decode`. This vulnerability affects 0.3.10 and earlier versions.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:L/I:N/A:N","score":5.3},"cwes":["CWE-119"],"references":["https://github.com/vyperlang/vyper/security/advisories/GHSA-9p8r-4xp4-gw5w","https://github.com/vyperlang/vyper/security/advisories/GHSA-9p8r-4xp4-gw5w"],"products":["vyperlang:vyper"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T21:45:59.823092188+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2024-26149","score":0.00547,"percentile":0.45848,"date":"2026-10-31"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-9p8r-4xp4-gw5w","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-9p8r-4xp4-gw5w","summary":"Vyper's `_abi_decode` vulnerable to Memory Overflow","modified":"2026-06-10T17:14:15.814776145Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"PyPI","name":"vyper","purl":"pkg:pypi/vyper","ranges":["<0.4.0"],"fixed":["0.4.0"]}]},{"id":"PYSEC-2024-164","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/PYSEC-2024-164","summary":"","modified":"2026-06-10T17:14:18.967761542Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"PyPI","name":"vyper","purl":"pkg:pypi/vyper","ranges":["<0.4.0b1"],"fixed":["0.4.0b1"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
