{"cve":"CVE-2024-24769","nvd":{"published":"2026-06-17T23:17:02.160","modified":"2026-10-27T18:10:00.130","status":"Deferred","description":"vantage6 is an open-source infrastructure for privacy preserving analysis. Prior to version 5.0.0, users can reset their MFA token via API routes that send them an email. Currently the number of emails that is sent is not limited. This gives attackers the option to flood someones mailbox with a lot of emails, and would have adverse effects on the SMTP server which may be seen as spam sender. Note resetting the MFA token requires a correct password, so the potential impact for this is very low. Version 5.0.0 fixes the issue. No known workarounds are available.","cvss_v4":{"vector":"CVSS:4.0/AV:N/AC:L/AT:P/PR:H/UI:N/VC:N/VI:L/VA:N/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N","score":2.1},"cvss_v3":null,"cwes":["CWE-400"],"references":["https://github.com/vantage6/vantage6/blob/main/docs/release_notes.rst#500","https://github.com/vantage6/vantage6/issues/1932","https://github.com/vantage6/vantage6/security/advisories/GHSA-5549-c5q7-fj65"],"products":[],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-27T18:39:43.087796372+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2024-24769","score":0.00278,"percentile":0.20107,"date":"2026-10-27"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-5549-c5q7-fj65","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-5549-c5q7-fj65","summary":"Vantage6: No limit on emails sent for password/MFA reset","modified":"2026-07-13T16:42:57.191422693Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"PyPI","name":"vantage6","purl":"pkg:pypi/vantage6","ranges":["<5.0.0"],"fixed":["5.0.0"]}]},{"id":"PYSEC-2026-3399","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/PYSEC-2026-3399","summary":"Vantage6: No limit on emails sent for password/MFA reset","modified":"2026-07-13T16:33:32.032006948Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"PyPI","name":"vantage6","purl":"pkg:pypi/vantage6","ranges":["<5.0.0"],"fixed":["5.0.0"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
