SOFARPC defaults to using the SOFA Hessian protocol to deserialize received data, while the SOFA Hessian protocol uses a blacklist mechanism to restrict deserialization of potentially dangerous classes for security protection. But, prior to version 5.12.0, there is a gadget chain that can bypass the SOFA Hessian blacklist protection mechanism, and this gadget chain only relies on JDK and does not rely on any third-party components. Version 5.12.0 fixed this issue by adding a blacklist. SOFARPC also provides a way to add additional blacklists. Users can add a class like `-Drpc_serialize_blacklist_override=org.apache.xpath.` to avoid this issue.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H","score":9.8},"cwes":["CWE-502"],"references":["https://github.com/sofastack/sofa-rpc/commit/42d19b1b1d14a25aafd9ef7c219c04a19f90fc76","https://github.com/sofastack/sofa-rpc/security/advisories/GHSA-7q8p-9953-pxvr","https://github.com/sofastack/sofa-rpc/commit/42d19b1b1d14a25aafd9ef7c219c04a19f90fc76","https://github.com/sofastack/sofa-rpc/security/advisories/GHSA-7q8p-9953-pxvr"],"products":["sofastack:sofarpc"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T21:44:57.175229480+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2024-23636","score":0.00799,"percentile":0.56563,"date":"2026-10-31"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-7q8p-9953-pxvr","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-7q8p-9953-pxvr","summary":"Remote Command Execution in SOFARPC","modified":"2026-09-10T03:50:09.323713869Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"Maven","name":"com.alipay.sofa:rpc-sofa-boot-starter","purl":"pkg:maven/com.alipay.sofa/rpc-sofa-boot-starter","ranges":["<5.12.0"],"fixed":["5.12.0"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
