Before version 2.11.0, the react-native-mmkv logged the optional encryption key for the MMKV database into the Android system log. The key can be obtained by anyone with access to the Android Debugging Bridge (ADB) if it is enabled in the phone settings. This bug is not present on iOS devices. By logging the encryption secret to the system logs, attackers can trivially recover the secret by enabling ADB and undermining an app's thread model. This issue has been patched in version 2.11.0.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:H/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:N/A:N","score":4.9},"cwes":["CWE-532"],"references":["https://github.com/mrousavy/react-native-mmkv/commit/a8995ccb7184281f7d168bad3e9987c9bd05f00d","https://github.com/mrousavy/react-native-mmkv/releases/tag/v2.11.0","https://github.com/mrousavy/react-native-mmkv/security/advisories/GHSA-4jh3-6jhv-2mgp","https://github.com/mrousavy/react-native-mmkv/commit/a8995ccb7184281f7d168bad3e9987c9bd05f00d","https://github.com/mrousavy/react-native-mmkv/releases/tag/v2.11.0"],"products":["mrousavy:react-native-mmkv"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T21:43:38.875533635+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2024-21668","score":0.00383,"percentile":0.32435,"date":"2026-10-31"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-4jh3-6jhv-2mgp","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-4jh3-6jhv-2mgp","summary":"react-native-mmkv Insertion of Sensitive Information into Log File vulnerability","modified":"2026-09-10T03:50:04.757839686Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"npm","name":"react-native-mmkv","purl":"pkg:npm/react-native-mmkv","ranges":["<2.11.0"],"fixed":["2.11.0"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
