{"cve":"CVE-2024-1023","nvd":{"published":"2024-03-27T08:15:38.140","modified":"2026-09-23T04:17:34.030","status":"Deferred","description":"A vulnerability in the Eclipse Vert.x toolkit results in a memory leak due to using Netty FastThreadLocal data structures. Specifically, when the Vert.x HTTP client establishes connections to different hosts, triggering the memory leak. The leak can be accelerated with intimate runtime knowledge, allowing an attacker to exploit this vulnerability. For instance, a server accepting arbitrary internet addresses could serve as an attack vector by connecting to these addresses, thereby accelerating the memory leak.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H","score":6.5},"cwes":["CWE-401"],"references":["https://access.redhat.com/errata/RHSA-2024:1662","https://access.redhat.com/errata/RHSA-2024:1706","https://access.redhat.com/errata/RHSA-2024:2088","https://access.redhat.com/errata/RHSA-2024:2833","https://access.redhat.com/errata/RHSA-2024:3527"],"products":[],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T21:47:51.568503435+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2024-1023","score":0.01653,"percentile":0.76551,"date":"2026-10-31"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-5667-3wch-7q7w","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-5667-3wch-7q7w","summary":"Eclipse Vert.x memory leak","modified":"2024-07-25T21:46:28.129301Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"Maven","name":"io.vertx:vertx-core","purl":"pkg:maven/io.vertx/vertx-core","ranges":[">=4.5.0 <4.5.2"],"fixed":["4.5.2"]},{"ecosystem":"Maven","name":"io.vertx:vertx-core","purl":"pkg:maven/io.vertx/vertx-core","ranges":[">=4.4.5 <4.4.7"],"fixed":["4.4.7"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
