{"cve":"CVE-2024-10190","nvd":{"published":"2025-03-20T10:15:15.117","modified":"2026-06-17T06:55:07.440","status":"Analyzed","description":"Horovod versions up to and including v0.28.1 are vulnerable to unauthenticated remote code execution. The vulnerability is due to improper handling of base64-encoded data in the `ElasticRendezvousHandler`, a subclass of `KVStoreHandler`. Specifically, the `_put_value` method in `ElasticRendezvousHandler` calls `codec.loads_base64(value)`, which eventually invokes `cloudpickle.loads(decoded)`. This allows an attacker to send a malicious pickle object via a PUT request, leading to arbitrary code execution on the server.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.0","vector":"CVSS:3.0/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H","score":9.8},"cwes":["CWE-502"],"references":["https://huntr.com/bounties/3e398d1f-70c2-4e05-ae22-f5d66b19a754"],"products":["horovod:horovod"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T22:00:17.429720821+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2024-10190","score":0.01124,"percentile":0.66271,"date":"2026-10-31"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-mrhh-3ggq-23p2","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-mrhh-3ggq-23p2","summary":"Horovod Vulnerable to Command Injection","modified":"2026-10-27T17:30:37.969317003Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"PyPI","name":"horovod","purl":"pkg:pypi/horovod","ranges":["<=0.28.1"],"fixed":[]}]},{"id":"PYSEC-2026-355","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/PYSEC-2026-355","summary":"Horovod Vulnerable to Command Injection","modified":"2026-07-01T20:22:54.318849Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"PyPI","name":"horovod","purl":"pkg:pypi/horovod","ranges":["<=0.28.1"],"fixed":[]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
