{"cve":"CVE-2023-6594","nvd":{"published":"2024-01-09T03:15:08.390","modified":"2026-06-17T06:51:03.273","status":"Modified","description":"The WordPress Button Plugin MaxButtons plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Stored Cross-Site Scripting via admin settings in all versions up to, and including, 9.7.4 due to insufficient input sanitization and output escaping. This makes it possible for authenticated attackers, with administrator-level permissions and above, to inject arbitrary web scripts in pages that will execute whenever a user accesses an injected page. This only affects multi-site installations and installations where unfiltered_html has been disabled. Administrators can give button creation privileges to users with lower levels (contributor+) which would allow those lower-privileged users to carry out attacks.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:H/UI:R/S:C/C:L/I:L/A:N","score":4.8},"cwes":["CWE-79"],"references":["https://plugins.trac.wordpress.org/changeset?sfp_email=&sfph_mail=&reponame=&new=3012872%40maxbuttons%2Ftrunk&old=2978023%40maxbuttons%2Ftrunk&sfp_email=&sfph_mail=","https://www.wordfence.com/threat-intel/vulnerabilities/id/cfe2cabd-98f6-4ebc-8a02-e6951202aa88?source=cve","https://plugins.trac.wordpress.org/changeset?sfp_email=&sfph_mail=&reponame=&new=3012872%40maxbuttons%2Ftrunk&old=2978023%40maxbuttons%2Ftrunk&sfp_email=&sfph_mail=","https://www.wordfence.com/threat-intel/vulnerabilities/id/cfe2cabd-98f6-4ebc-8a02-e6951202aa88?source=cve"],"products":["maxfoundry:maxbuttons"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T21:43:38.875533635+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2023-6594","score":0.00316,"percentile":0.24581,"date":"2026-10-31"},"kev":null,"osv":[],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
