{"cve":"CVE-2023-6187","nvd":{"published":"2023-11-18T02:15:49.333","modified":"2026-06-17T06:50:15.880","status":"Modified","description":"The Paid Memberships Pro plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to arbitrary file uploads due to insufficient file type validation in the 'pmpro_paypalexpress_session_vars_for_user_fields' function in versions up to, and including, 2.12.3. This makes it possible for authenticated attackers with subscriber privileges or above, to upload arbitrary files on the affected site's server which may make remote code execution possible. This can be exploited if 2Checkout (deprecated since version 2.6) or PayPal Express is set as the payment method and a custom user field is added that is only visible at profile, and not visible at checkout according to its settings.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H","score":8.8},"cwes":["CWE-434"],"references":["https://plugins.trac.wordpress.org/browser/paid-memberships-pro/tags/2.12.3/includes/fields.php#L564","https://plugins.trac.wordpress.org/changeset/2997319/paid-memberships-pro/tags/2.12.4/includes/fields.php","https://plugins.trac.wordpress.org/changeset/2997319/paid-memberships-pro/tags/2.12.4/includes/functions.php","https://www.paidmembershipspro.com/pmpro-update-2-12-4/","https://www.wordfence.com/threat-intel/vulnerabilities/id/5979f2eb-2ca8-4b06-814c-c4236bb81af0?source=cve"],"products":["strangerstudios:paid_memberships_pro"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T21:42:07.670898610+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2023-6187","score":0.51254,"percentile":0.98937,"date":"2026-11-01"},"kev":null,"osv":[],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
