Hence if the overlay fails to apply due to an\nunresolved symbol, the overlay_changeset.cset.entries list is still\nuninitialized, and cleanup will crash with a NULL-pointer dereference in\noverlay_removal_is_ok().\n\nFix this by moving the call to of_changeset_init() from\ninit_overlay_changeset() to of_overlay_fdt_apply(), where all other\nearly initialization is done.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":null,"cwes":[],"references":["https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/01bb96ad38089f5cc6de7746dac13437d35eb1dc","https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/3fb210cd521c9efcb211e9f5ce40fc907200bf13","https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/a9515ff4fb142b690a0d2b58782b15903b990dba","https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/be86241bf5d1efd16d8a7231c13b33459c5d755d","https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/c403c81b577a67fe9ec6a2e89d143256487be50f"],"products":[],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T22:16:40.427100871+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2023-53856","score":0.00227,"percentile":0.1355,"date":"2026-10-31"},"kev":null,"osv":[],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
