This will be ignored.\n\nand then remove the device anyhow. So all resources that were not freed\nare leaked in this case. Skipping serial8250_unregister_port() has the\npotential to keep enough of the UART around to trigger a use-after-free.\n\nSo replace the error return (and with it the little helpful error\nmessage) by a more useful error message and continue to cleanup.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:L/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H","score":7.8},"cwes":["CWE-416"],"references":["https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/828cd829483f0cda920710997aed79130b0af690","https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/887a558d0298d36297daea039954c39940228d9b","https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/95e4e0031effad9837af557ecbfd4294a4d8aeee","https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/ad90d0358bd3b4554f243a425168fc7cebe7d04e","https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/b502fb43f7fb55aaf07f6092ab44657595214b93"],"products":["linux:linux_kernel"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T21:45:59.823092188+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2023-52457","score":0.00231,"percentile":0.14003,"date":"2026-11-01"},"kev":null,"osv":[],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
