{"cve":"CVE-2023-52160","nvd":{"published":"2024-02-22T17:15:08.263","modified":"2026-06-17T06:42:12.160","status":"Modified","description":"The implementation of PEAP in wpa_supplicant through 2.10 allows authentication bypass. For a successful attack, wpa_supplicant must be configured to not verify the network's TLS certificate during Phase 1 authentication, and an eap_peap_decrypt vulnerability can then be abused to skip Phase 2 authentication. The attack vector is sending an EAP-TLV Success packet instead of starting Phase 2. This allows an adversary to impersonate Enterprise Wi-Fi networks.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:R/S:U/C:H/I:N/A:N","score":6.5},"cwes":["CWE-287"],"references":["https://lists.debian.org/debian-lts-announce/2024/02/msg00013.html","https://lists.fedoraproject.org/archives/list/package-announce%40lists.fedoraproject.org/message/N46C4DTVUWK336OYDA4LGALSC5VVPTCC/","https://lists.fedoraproject.org/archives/list/package-announce%40lists.fedoraproject.org/message/QU6IR4KV3ZXJZLK2BY7HAHGZNCP7FPNI/","https://w1.fi/cgit/hostap/commit/?id=8e6485a1bcb0baffdea9e55255a81270b768439c","https://www.top10vpn.com/research/wifi-vulnerabilities/"],"products":["debian:debian_linux","fedoraproject:fedora","redhat:enterprise_linux","w1.fi:wpa_supplicant"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T21:45:59.823092188+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2023-52160","score":0.01177,"percentile":0.67599,"date":"2026-10-31"},"kev":null,"osv":[],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
