When a user registers itself through registration flow, the \"password\" and \"password-confirm\" field from the form will occur as regular user attributes. All users and clients with proper rights and roles are able to read users attributes, allowing a malicious user with minimal access to retrieve the users passwords in clear text, jeopardizing their environment.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H","score":8.8},"cwes":["CWE-319","CWE-256"],"references":["https://access.redhat.com/security/cve/CVE-2023-4918","https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=2238588","https://github.com/keycloak/keycloak/security/advisories/GHSA-5q66-v53q-pm35","https://access.redhat.com/security/cve/CVE-2023-4918","https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=2238588"],"products":["redhat:keycloak"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T21:39:24.235896374+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2023-4918","score":0.00574,"percentile":0.47386,"date":"2026-10-31"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-5q66-v53q-pm35","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-5q66-v53q-pm35","summary":"Keycloak vulnerable to Plaintext Storage of User Password","modified":"2026-07-16T03:59:27.600905400Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"Maven","name":"org.keycloak:keycloak-core","purl":"pkg:maven/org.keycloak/keycloak-core","ranges":[">=22.0.2 <22.0.3"],"fixed":["22.0.3"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
