When parsing relative ex addresses one may unintentionally cause an\noverflow. Ironically this happens in the existing overflow check, because the line number becomes negative and LONG_MAX - lnum will cause the overflow. Impact is low, user interaction is required and a crash may not even happen in all situations. This issue has been addressed in commit `060623e` which has been included in release version 9.0.2110. Users are advised to upgrade. There are no known workarounds for this vulnerability.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:R/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:L","score":4.3},"cwes":["CWE-190"],"references":["http://www.openwall.com/lists/oss-security/2023/11/16/1","https://github.com/vim/vim/commit/060623e4a3bc72b011e7cd92bedb3bfb64e06200","https://github.com/vim/vim/security/advisories/GHSA-6g74-hr6q-pr8g","https://lists.fedoraproject.org/archives/list/package-announce@lists.fedoraproject.org/message/4UJAK2W5S7G75ETDAEM3BDUCVSXCEGRD/","https://lists.fedoraproject.org/archives/list/package-announce@lists.fedoraproject.org/message/M3VQF7CL3V6FGSEW37WNDFBRRILR65AK/"],"products":["fedoraproject:fedora","vim:vim"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T21:42:07.670898610+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2023-48235","score":0.00755,"percentile":0.55134,"date":"2026-10-31"},"kev":null,"osv":[],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
