An upper bound check issue in `dsaVerify` function allows an attacker to construct signatures that can be successfully verified by any public key, thus leading to a signature forgery attack. All places in this project that involve DSA verification of user-input signatures will be affected by this vulnerability. This issue has been patched in version 4.2.2.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:H/A:N","score":7.5},"cwes":["CWE-347"],"references":["https://github.com/browserify/browserify-sign/commit/85994cd6348b50f2fd1b73c54e20881416f44a30","https://github.com/browserify/browserify-sign/security/advisories/GHSA-x9w5-v3q2-3rhw","https://lists.debian.org/debian-lts-announce/2023/10/msg00040.html","https://lists.fedoraproject.org/archives/list/package-announce@lists.fedoraproject.org/message/3HUE6ZR5SL73KHL7XUPAOEL6SB7HUDT2/","https://lists.fedoraproject.org/archives/list/package-announce@lists.fedoraproject.org/message/6PVVPNSAGSDS63HQ74PJ7MZ3MU5IYNVZ/"],"products":["browserify:browserify-sign","debian:debian_linux"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T21:40:11.519948003+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2023-46234","score":0.00563,"percentile":0.4682,"date":"2026-11-01"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-x9w5-v3q2-3rhw","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-x9w5-v3q2-3rhw","summary":"browserify-sign upper bound check issue in `dsaVerify` leads to a signature forgery attack","modified":"2026-09-10T03:50:08.674168828Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"npm","name":"browserify-sign","purl":"pkg:npm/browserify-sign","ranges":[">=2.6.0 <4.2.2"],"fixed":["4.2.2"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
