That file is readable even by users with no permissions to access the configuration. This can lead to privilege escalation as the user can read the password hash when a password change is being committed.\n\nThis issue affects:\n\nJuniper Networks Junos OS\n\n\n\n * All versions prior to 20.4R3-S4;\n * 21.1 versions prior to 21.1R3-S4;\n * 21.2 versions prior to 21.2R3-S2;\n * 21.3 versions prior to 21.3R2-S2, 21.3R3-S1;\n * 21.4 versions prior to 21.4R2-S1, 21.4R3.\n\n\n\n\nJuniper Networks Junos OS Evolved\n\n\n\n * All versions prior to 20.4R3-S4-EVO;\n * 21.1 versions prior to 21.1R3-S2-EVO;\n * 21.2 versions prior to 21.2R3-S2-EVO;\n * 21.3 versions prior to 21.3R3-S1-EVO;\n * 21.4 versions prior to 21.4R2-S2-EVO.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:L/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:N/A:N","score":5.5},"cwes":["CWE-732"],"references":["https://supprtportal.juniper.net/JSA73167","https://supprtportal.juniper.net/JSA73167"],"products":["juniper:junos","juniper:junos_os_evolved"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T21:39:34.467980132+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2023-44201","score":0.00152,"percentile":0.04321,"date":"2026-10-31"},"kev":null,"osv":[],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
