Prior to version 1.7.4, there is a potential for a mutation XSS (mXSS) vulnerability in AntiSamy caused by flawed parsing of the HTML being sanitized. To be subject to this vulnerability the `preserveComments` directive must be enabled in your policy file and also allow for certain tags at the same time. As a result, certain crafty inputs can result in elements in comment tags being interpreted as executable when using AntiSamy's sanitized output. This issue has been patched in AntiSamy 1.7.4 and later.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:R/S:C/C:L/I:L/A:N","score":6.1},"cwes":["CWE-79"],"references":["https://github.com/nahsra/antisamy/releases/tag/v1.7.4","https://github.com/nahsra/antisamy/security/advisories/GHSA-pcf2-gh6g-h5r2","https://github.com/nahsra/antisamy/releases/tag/v1.7.4","https://github.com/nahsra/antisamy/security/advisories/GHSA-pcf2-gh6g-h5r2"],"products":["antisamy_project:antisamy"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T21:39:34.467980132+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2023-43643","score":0.00541,"percentile":0.45495,"date":"2026-10-31"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-pcf2-gh6g-h5r2","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-pcf2-gh6g-h5r2","summary":"mXSS in AntiSamy","modified":"2026-09-10T03:50:04.035845498Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"Maven","name":"org.owasp.antisamy:antisamy","purl":"pkg:maven/org.owasp.antisamy/antisamy","ranges":["<1.7.4"],"fixed":["1.7.4"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
