{"cve":"CVE-2023-39355","nvd":{"published":"2023-08-31T20:15:08.457","modified":"2026-06-17T06:12:07.787","status":"Modified","description":"FreeRDP is a free implementation of the Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP), released under the Apache license. Versions of FreeRDP on the 3.x release branch before beta3 are subject to a Use-After-Free in processing `RDPGFX_CMDID_RESETGRAPHICS` packets. If `context->maxPlaneSize` is 0, `context->planesBuffer` will be freed. However, without updating `context->planesBuffer`, this leads to a Use-After-Free exploit vector. In most environments this should only result in a crash. This issue has been addressed in version 3.0.0-beta3 and users of the beta 3.x releases are advised to upgrade. There are no known workarounds for this vulnerability.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H","score":9.8},"cwes":["CWE-416"],"references":["https://github.com/FreeRDP/FreeRDP/commit/d6f9d33a7db0b346195b6a15b5b99944ba41beee","https://github.com/FreeRDP/FreeRDP/security/advisories/GHSA-hvwj-vmg6-2f5h","https://lists.debian.org/debian-lts-announce/2023/10/msg00008.html","https://security.gentoo.org/glsa/202401-16","https://github.com/FreeRDP/FreeRDP/commit/d6f9d33a7db0b346195b6a15b5b99944ba41beee"],"products":["debian:debian_linux","freerdp:freerdp"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T21:39:14.809778102+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2023-39355","score":0.01266,"percentile":0.69748,"date":"2026-10-31"},"kev":null,"osv":[],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
