Prior to version 1.0.1, it was possible to craft an event such that it would leak part of a targeted message event from another bridged room. This required knowing an event ID to target. Version 1.0.1n fixes this issue. As a workaround, set the `matrixHandler.eventCacheSize` config value to `0`. This workaround may impact performance.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:H/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:L/I:N/A:N","score":3.7},"cwes":["CWE-200"],"references":["https://github.com/matrix-org/matrix-appservice-irc/commit/8bbd2b69a16cbcbeffdd9b5c973fd89d61498d75","https://github.com/matrix-org/matrix-appservice-irc/releases/tag/1.0.1","https://github.com/matrix-org/matrix-appservice-irc/security/advisories/GHSA-c7hh-3v6c-fj4q","https://github.com/matrix-org/matrix-appservice-irc/commit/8bbd2b69a16cbcbeffdd9b5c973fd89d61498d75","https://github.com/matrix-org/matrix-appservice-irc/releases/tag/1.0.1"],"products":["matrix:matrix_irc_bridge"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T21:38:35.729974749+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2023-38700","score":0.00599,"percentile":0.48664,"date":"2026-11-01"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-c7hh-3v6c-fj4q","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-c7hh-3v6c-fj4q","summary":"matrix-appservice-irc events can be crafted to leak parts of targeted messages from other bridged rooms","modified":"2023-11-08T04:13:09.727778Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"npm","name":"matrix-appservice-irc","purl":"pkg:npm/matrix-appservice-irc","ranges":["<1.0.1"],"fixed":["1.0.1"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
