In vm2 for versions up to and including 3.9.19, Node.js custom inspect function allows attackers to escape the sandbox and run arbitrary code. This may result in Remote Code Execution, assuming the attacker has arbitrary code execution primitive inside the context of vm2 sandbox. There are no patches and no known workarounds. Users are advised to find an alternative software.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:C/C:H/I:H/A:H","score":10.0},"cwes":["CWE-78"],"references":["https://github.com/patriksimek/vm2/security/advisories/GHSA-g644-9gfx-q4q4","https://security.netapp.com/advisory/ntap-20230831-0007/","https://github.com/patriksimek/vm2/security/advisories/GHSA-g644-9gfx-q4q4","https://security.netapp.com/advisory/ntap-20230831-0007/","https://security.netapp.com/advisory/ntap-20241108-0002/"],"products":["vm2_project:vm2"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T21:38:35.729974749+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2023-37903","score":0.04215,"percentile":0.90987,"date":"2026-10-31"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-g644-9gfx-q4q4","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-g644-9gfx-q4q4","summary":"vm2 Sandbox Escape vulnerability","modified":"2026-07-08T08:14:39.876965668Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"npm","name":"vm2","purl":"pkg:npm/vm2","ranges":["<=3.9.19"],"fixed":[]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
