{"cve":"CVE-2023-33977","nvd":{"published":"2023-06-06T19:15:12.800","modified":"2026-06-17T06:02:38.657","status":"Modified","description":"Kiwi TCMS is an open source test management system for both manual and automated testing. Kiwi TCMS allows users to upload attachments to test plans, test cases, etc. Earlier versions of Kiwi TCMS had introduced upload validators in order to prevent potentially dangerous files from being uploaded and Content-Security-Policy definition to prevent cross-site-scripting attacks. The upload validation checks were not 100% robust which left the possibility to circumvent them and upload a potentially dangerous file which allows execution of arbitrary JavaScript in the browser. Additionally we've discovered that Nginx's `proxy_pass` directive will strip some headers negating protections built into Kiwi TCMS when served behind a reverse proxy. This issue has been addressed in version 12.4. Users are advised to upgrade. Users unable to upgrade who are serving Kiwi TCMS behind a reverse proxy should make sure that additional header values are still passed to the client browser. If they aren't redefining them inside the proxy configuration.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:R/S:C/C:L/I:L/A:N","score":5.4},"cwes":["CWE-79"],"references":["https://github.com/kiwitcms/Kiwi/blob/master/etc/nginx.conf#L66-L68","https://github.com/kiwitcms/Kiwi/blob/master/etc/nginx.conf#L87","https://github.com/kiwitcms/Kiwi/commit/d789f4b51025de4f8c747c037d02e1b0da80b034","https://github.com/kiwitcms/Kiwi/security/advisories/GHSA-2fqm-m4r2-fh98","https://huntr.dev/bounties/6aea9a26-e29a-467b-aa5a-f767f0c2ec96/"],"products":["kiwitcms:kiwi_tcms"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T21:38:24.161619714+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2023-33977","score":0.0087,"percentile":0.58829,"date":"2026-11-01"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-2fqm-m4r2-fh98","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-2fqm-m4r2-fh98","summary":"kiwitcms vulnerable to stored cross-site scripting via unrestricted file upload","modified":"2026-09-10T03:50:02.113010094Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"PyPI","name":"kiwitcms","purl":"pkg:pypi/kiwitcms","ranges":["<12.4"],"fixed":["12.4"]}]},{"id":"PYSEC-2026-1495","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/PYSEC-2026-1495","summary":"kiwitcms vulnerable to stored cross-site scripting via unrestricted file upload","modified":"2026-07-07T17:46:46.684758382Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"PyPI","name":"kiwitcms","purl":"pkg:pypi/kiwitcms","ranges":["<12.4"],"fixed":["12.4"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
