{"cve":"CVE-2023-2781","nvd":{"published":"2023-06-03T00:15:09.353","modified":"2026-06-17T05:53:25.570","status":"Modified","description":"The User Email Verification for WooCommerce plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to authentication bypass via authenticate_user_by_email in versions up to, and including, 3.5.0. This is due to a random token generation weakness in the resend_verification_email function. This allows unauthenticated attackers to impersonate users and trigger an email address verification for arbitrary accounts, including administrative accounts, and automatically be logged in as that user, including any site administrators. This requires the Allow Automatic Login After Successful Verification setting to be enabled, which it is not by default.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H","score":9.8},"cwes":["CWE-288","CWE-306"],"references":["https://plugins.trac.wordpress.org/browser/woo-confirmation-email/tags/3.5.0/public/class-xlwuev-woocommerce-confirmation-email-public.php#L143","https://plugins.trac.wordpress.org/browser/woo-confirmation-email/tags/3.5.0/public/class-xlwuev-woocommerce-confirmation-email-public.php#L332","https://plugins.trac.wordpress.org/browser/woo-confirmation-email/tags/3.5.0/public/class-xlwuev-woocommerce-confirmation-email-public.php#L506","https://www.wordfence.com/threat-intel/vulnerabilities/id/f1e31357-7fbc-414b-a4f4-53fa5f2fc715?source=cve","https://plugins.trac.wordpress.org/browser/woo-confirmation-email/tags/3.5.0/public/class-xlwuev-woocommerce-confirmation-email-public.php#L143"],"products":["wisetr:user_email_verification_for_woocommerce"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T21:38:24.161619714+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2023-2781","score":0.01172,"percentile":0.67461,"date":"2026-10-31"},"kev":null,"osv":[],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
