{"cve":"CVE-2023-2717","nvd":{"published":"2023-05-20T03:15:09.233","modified":"2026-06-17T05:53:16.467","status":"Modified","description":"The Groundhogg plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Cross-Site Request Forgery in versions up to, and including, 2.7.9.8. This is due to missing nonce validation on the 'enable_safe_mode' function. This makes it possible for unauthenticated attackers to enable safe mode, which disables all other plugins, via a forged request if they can successfully trick an administrator into performing an action such as clicking on a link. A warning message about safe mode is displayed to the admin, which can be easily disabled.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:R/S:U/C:N/I:L/A:N","score":4.3},"cwes":["CWE-352"],"references":["https://plugins.trac.wordpress.org/browser/groundhogg/tags/2.7.9.8/admin/help/help-page.php#L67","https://plugins.trac.wordpress.org/changeset/2914493/groundhogg/tags/2.7.10/admin/help/help-page.php","https://www.wordfence.com/threat-intel/vulnerabilities/id/af73240c-b711-4e91-9998-5f7e6a9a4fb9?source=cve","https://plugins.trac.wordpress.org/browser/groundhogg/tags/2.7.9.8/admin/help/help-page.php#L67","https://plugins.trac.wordpress.org/changeset/2914493/groundhogg/tags/2.7.10/admin/help/help-page.php"],"products":["groundhogg:groundhogg"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T21:38:18.424950729+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2023-2717","score":0.00303,"percentile":0.23073,"date":"2026-11-01"},"kev":null,"osv":[],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
