{"cve":"CVE-2023-23915","nvd":{"published":"2023-02-23T20:15:13.703","modified":"2026-10-24T13:10:00.147","status":"Modified","description":"A cleartext transmission of sensitive information vulnerability exists in curl <v7.88.0 that could cause HSTS functionality to behave incorrectly when multiple URLs are requested in parallel. Using its HSTS support, curl can be instructed to use HTTPS instead of using an insecure clear-text HTTP step even when HTTP is provided in the URL. This HSTS mechanism would however surprisingly fail when multiple transfers are done in parallel as the HSTS cache file gets overwritten by the most recentlycompleted transfer. A later HTTP-only transfer to the earlier host name would then *not* get upgraded properly to HSTS.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:L/I:L/A:N","score":6.5},"cwes":["CWE-319"],"references":["https://hackerone.com/reports/1826048","https://security.gentoo.org/glsa/202310-12","https://security.netapp.com/advisory/ntap-20230309-0006/","https://hackerone.com/reports/1826048","https://security.gentoo.org/glsa/202310-12"],"products":["haxx:curl","netapp:active_iq_unified_manager","netapp:clustered_data_ontap","netapp:h300s_firmware","netapp:h410s_firmware","netapp:h500s_firmware","netapp:h700s_firmware","splunk:universal_forwarder"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-24T16:53:27.712498749+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2023-23915","score":0.00881,"percentile":0.58858,"date":"2026-10-25"},"kev":null,"osv":[],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
