This issue may happen if there is insufficient memory or the memory usage is limited. The problem is caused by the return value `rc,` which is initialized to SSH_ERROR and later rewritten to save the return value of the function call `pki_key_check_hash_compatible.` The value of the variable is not changed between this point and the cryptographic verification. Therefore any error between them calls `goto error` returning SSH_OK.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:L/I:L/A:N","score":6.5},"cwes":["CWE-287"],"references":["http://packetstormsecurity.com/files/172861/libssh-0.9.6-0.10.4-pki_verify_data_signature-Authorization-Bypass.html","https://access.redhat.com/security/cve/CVE-2023-2283","https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=2189736","https://lists.fedoraproject.org/archives/list/package-announce%40lists.fedoraproject.org/message/27PD44ALQTZXX7K6JAM3BXBUHYA6DFFN/","https://security.gentoo.org/glsa/202312-05"],"products":["fedoraproject:fedora","libssh:libssh","redhat:enterprise_linux"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T21:38:24.161619714+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2023-2283","score":0.01061,"percentile":0.64589,"date":"2026-10-31"},"kev":null,"osv":[],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
