It causes\nuse-after-free bug. Moreover, if alloc_skb() fails, urb->context becomes\nNULL but rx_buf is not freed and there can be a memory leak.\n\nThe patch removes unnecessary nskb and makes skb processing more clear: it\nis supposed that ath9k_htc_rx_msg() either frees old skb or passes its\nmanaging to another callback function.\n\nFound by Linux Verification Center (linuxtesting.org) with Syzkaller.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":null,"cwes":[],"references":["https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/0c8dd2ea4b419da96ab4953e4967e9363e2f8a4f","https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/355f16f756aad0c95cdaa0c14a34ab4137d32815","https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/53b9bb1a00c4285ee7f58a11129dbea015db61bc","https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/5e8751a977a49a6e00cce1a8da5ca16da83f9c8c","https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/71fc0ad671a62c494d2aec731baeabd3bfe6c95d"],"products":[],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T22:18:08.089039631+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2022-50829","score":0.00284,"percentile":0.20957,"date":"2026-10-31"},"kev":null,"osv":[],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
