Hence, modules cannot\nuse symbols annotated __init. The access to a freed symbol may end up\nwith kernel panic.\n\nmodpost used to detect it, but it has been broken for a decade.\n\nRecently, I fixed modpost so it started to warn it again, then this\nshowed up in linux-next builds.\n\nThere are two ways to fix it:\n\n - Remove __init\n - Remove EXPORT_SYMBOL\n\nI chose the latter for this case because the only in-tree call-site,\ndrivers/net/phy/phy_device.c is never compiled as modular.\n(CONFIG_PHYLIB is boolean)","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:L/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H","score":5.5},"cwes":["CWE-908"],"references":["https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/35b42dce619701f1300fb8498dae82c9bb1f0263","https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/5534bcd7c40299862237c4a8fd9c5031b3db1538","https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/59fa94cddf9eef8d8dae587373eed8b8f4eb11d7","https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/6a90a44d53428a3bf01bd80df9ba78b19959270c","https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/7759c3222815b945a94b212bc0c6cdec475cfec2"],"products":["linux:linux_kernel"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T21:59:48.811064707+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2022-49350","score":0.00284,"percentile":0.20994,"date":"2026-10-31"},"kev":null,"osv":[],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
