Despite configuring complete restrictions on USB pendrives, USB HDD devices, memory cards, USB connections to mobile devices, etc., it is still possible to bypass the USB restrictions by booting into Safe Mode. This allows a file to be exchanged outside the laptop/system. Safe Mode can be launched by any user (even without admin rights). Data exfiltration can occur, and also malware might be introduced onto the system. NOTE: the vendor's position is \"it's not a vulnerability in our product.\"","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:L/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H","score":7.8},"cwes":["CWE-288"],"references":["https://medium.com/nestedif/vulnerability-disclosure-business-logic-unauthorized-data-exfiltration-bypassing-dlp-zoho-cc51465ba84a","https://www.manageengine.com/device-control/how-to/device-control.html","https://medium.com/nestedif/vulnerability-disclosure-business-logic-unauthorized-data-exfiltration-bypassing-dlp-zoho-cc51465ba84a","https://www.manageengine.com/device-control/how-to/device-control.html"],"products":["zohocorp:manageengine_device_control_plus"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T21:37:31.370122805+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2022-47578","score":0.00962,"percentile":0.61656,"date":"2026-10-31"},"kev":null,"osv":[],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
