{"cve":"CVE-2022-41917","nvd":{"published":"2022-11-16T00:15:11.283","modified":"2026-06-17T05:04:03.540","status":"Modified","description":"OpenSearch is a community-driven, open source fork of Elasticsearch and Kibana. OpenSearch allows users to specify a local file when defining text analyzers to process data for text analysis. An issue in the implementation of this feature allows certain specially crafted queries to return a response containing the first line of text from arbitrary files. The list of potentially impacted files is limited to text files with read permissions allowed in the Java Security Manager policy configuration. OpenSearch version 1.3.7 and 2.4.0 contain a fix for this issue. Users are advised to upgrade. There are no known workarounds for this issue.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:L/I:N/A:N","score":4.3},"cwes":["CWE-755","CWE-200"],"references":["https://github.com/opensearch-project/OpenSearch/commit/6d20423f5920745463b1abc5f1daf6a786c41aa0","https://github.com/opensearch-project/OpenSearch/security/advisories/GHSA-w3rx-m34v-wrqx","https://github.com/opensearch-project/OpenSearch/commit/6d20423f5920745463b1abc5f1daf6a786c41aa0","https://github.com/opensearch-project/OpenSearch/security/advisories/GHSA-w3rx-m34v-wrqx"],"products":["amazon:opensearch"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T21:37:08.729216836+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2022-41917","score":0.00605,"percentile":0.48937,"date":"2026-10-31"},"kev":null,"osv":[],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
